Who we are

The Crozet Cares Closet came into being when a group of ten Crozet churches met August 30, 2022 and established the Crozet Region Interfaith Outreach Council (CRIOC) with the goal of identifying needs/gaps of service in our community.

The Council found that those struggling to provide for themselves and their families are in great need of cleaning supplies, both for personal care and to maintain the cleanliness of their households. They realized there wasn’t a collaborative effort to provide the non-food items vital for health and self-respect to people unable to afford the increasing cost of paper products and cleaning supplies.

Our neighbors in need have access to food pantries in Crozet, but most local pantries do not stock other basic necessities that families and individuals need. Personal care & household products are not covered by SNAP (food stamp) benefits, and since there's no government subsidy program, people are left to either pay out of pocket or simply go without.

Thus, the Crozet Cares Closet was born! Our grand opening was July 1, 2023.

The Crozet Cares Closet is a pantry providing personal hygiene & household cleaning products to those in need in our community.

The Crozet Cares Closet is a joint ministry of the Crozet Region Interfaith Outreach Council.
